Looking for natural candida treatments in Doncaster and around Melbourne?

Candida Albicans is a yeast (fungus) that causes thrush. It normally exists in the bowel and is kept in check by a healthy immune system. There are various strains but Candida Albicans is the most common strain causing health problems for people. In certain circumstances, and particularly after taking antibiotics, it can multiply rapidly and actually move through the wall of the bowel into the blood stream and to the rest of the body. Once this occurs Candida can then begin to grow in other areas in the body including the brain, lungs or other organs. This  is called Candidiasis.

What are the Symptoms of Candida Infection?

If the infection has spread into your system it may cause some of these symptoms:

  • Food Allergies
  • Eczema
  • Brain Fog
  • Depression
  • Recurrent Thrush
  • Joint Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Ear and sinus infections
  • Nail infections or tinea

One of the fascinating things about Candida is that, like other yeasts, it feeds on sugar and excretes alcohol as well as other toxins. Because it demands sugar it can actually cause you to crave sweet foods or starchy carbs which convert quickly into sugar. It can then leave you with a hangover and a foggy head.

 What Causes Candida Infection?

Some of the most common causes of Candida overgrowth are:

    • Antibiotics
    • Diet high in sugar and processed foods
    • High alcohol intake
    • Contraception pill
    • Cortisone or other steroids
    • Pregnancy
    • Depleted immune system

Testing for Candida Infection

The first step is to have a simple, affordable diagnostic test to determine whether Candida has infiltrated your system and whether you have Candidiasis or not. This test involves either a finger prick blood analysis or a saliva test, combined with an Initial 60 minute consultation with one of our Naturopaths in East Doncaster, Melbourne.

Alternative Therapies and Treatment for Candida Infection

The good news is that Candidiasis is treatable and most sufferers feel surprisingly good once this infection is cleared from their system. Treating Candidiasis can take several weeks. Treatment usually includes dietary changes, herbal remedies and supplements, in consultation with one of our Naturopaths. There are particular herbal remedies that have strong anti-fungal properties and supplements that boost the immune system. Certain Homeopathic remedies can also help reduce cravings for sugar. Subsequent testing will assess the effectiveness of treatment.

If your health and energy levels are not 100% and you are not sure why, then we would highly recommend being tested for Candida. This could give you the answers that you have been looking for regarding your health concerns.
