Interests:
Raquel has a keen interest in working with clients who have experienced trauma, including complex, long-term, and acute trauma. Her clients have experienced success resolving traumatic symptoms including emotional overwhelm, agitation, anxiety, racing thoughts, intrusive images, sensations and emotions, and feeling empty, numb, shame or despair through her therapuetic approach which combines IPT, CBT and a sensory-motor approach to psychotherapy.
Raquel has a particular interest in working with clients who have experienced psychosis, or, psychotic-like symptoms, such as hallucinations, altered states of perception and consciousness etc., and psycho-spiritual crises. Her approach involves working with her clients to explore the psychological, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual reasons that may contribute to their state of imbalance. Her approach emphasises support and recovery within a holistic focus.
Raquel’s approach aims through counselling to enhance her clients inherent qualities, such as personal competence, choice, self-healing potential and creativity, and to develop clients understanding of the interaction of mind, body and spirit. Her key focus is to enhance her clients awareness of their issues and facilitate their ability to grow, develop and make positive changes in their lives.
